I came to US the exact date when the Iraq war started. It was complete mess life, biz and media wise. I could not escape the feeling of helplessness of both sides in conflict. Like either side didn't want that. Like either side didn't wish that's happening at all. I was sure that, besides the ones who find conflict situations ideal for exercising cheering practice to express their "support to one side" the majority of other, normal people just get caught by the same helplessness. Weren't there the antiwar demonstrations in every city? Whole wide world was against it. So why are things like that happening? Minority makes decisions in the name of the majority. We VOTE but we don't CHOOSE.

Luckily, I have found here a book by Noreena Hertz "THE SILENT TAKEOVER" - Global Capitalism and the Death of Democracy. Named one of the best books of the year (2001) by The Sunday Times of London and the bestseller in England. Let's see if it can offer any helpful insights...
